Private Post Offices

There is much discussion about these small rectangular cancels on mail in the 1930's to the 1940's a relatively short period of usage. The rectangle cancels top half is the location and the lower half is a date line divided by two slashes (/).

There is speculation that these were village post offices that received mail for the Thai post systems and delivered it to locations in the area that would be too time consuming for the Thai Postman.

These private licensed mail offices also canceled mail for the village entering mail into the Thai mail system.There may have been compensation based on letters delivered to the office for further delivery and by the amount of mail canceled at the location .

T ha Maka was originally part of Ratchaburi Province, and named Lat Bua Khao (ลาดบัวขาว).
1903 it was renamed Phra Thaen (พระแท่น).
1917 it received its current name, Tha Maka.
1937 the district was reassigned to Kanchanaburi, with only the sub-district Lat Bua Khao changed to Ban Pong and remaining in Ratchaburi.

4. Registration mark in english “registered G.P.O.? with a visible "17" for the day.
Some strong date confusion or poor translation due to poor cancels, bad eyesight or
both! Any help would be appreciated.

B hanga or the modern Ban Kha is a District (amphoe) and a sub district (tambon) in the western part of Ratchaburi Province.

1930. Envelope addressed to London bearing SG 239, 5s green (strip of three) tied by framed Bhanga rural date stamp with date inserted in m/s '17.3.30.',

With Bhanga date stamp '20th March', Bhuket transit '21st Mar' and routed south via Penang ''27th March with transits on reverse. Very fine quality and scarce rural postmark.

Naradhivas is a section of the city of Narathiwat in the southern province of Narathiwat.
The fragment is postmarked Navadhivas on 21/9/80 Sept 21, 1937.
The partial transit post mark of Hat Yai with the day 22 means it took a day to get to Hat Yai. this could have been by the closest rail station Tanyong Mat ตันหยงมัส or by road.
There is one more transit Singapore cancel with the day 24 a two day journey from Hat Yai most likely by Rail.
One last postmark over the Singapore mark but it is unlegible to me perhaps a paquebot mark? Or another transfer.
