Interesting and Unusual

Siam has a history of philitelic oddeties and uniqness.  This was due in part to it's isolation from the major postage printing houses in England, France and Belgium.  The  development, approval and delivery lifecycle was far too long to adequitly supply the postage denominations required by Siam.

The initial series did not me the Universal Postal Unions requirments of the countries currency in arabic numerals and the countries name in the western aplphabet.

The increase in both mail traffic depleted certain currency stock of stamps requiring a local overprint of values until new orders arrived from Europe.

These overprints and the oddeties they created are a specialised field for Thai collectors.
Courst Stamps over printed with at the time very high values for "Packet mail" to China are ones of uniquness to Thailand and rarity.

The offices far from Bangkok that ran short on postage in the officed and Postmasters hand wrote that the postage had been paid are also rarities.
